Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) consists of an efficient method of managing inventory and fulfilling orders. Significant collaboration between suppliers and their customers, such as distributors, OEMs, retailers, and product end users, is involved within the VMIs, all of which alters the traditional process of ordering. You may benefit from a VMI consultation if you are looking to reduce the costs of accounting, freight, inventory, procurement, purchasing, receiving and sourcing, as well as improve your supply chain process. At Class C Components, we implement a VMI program for fasteners and a range of industrial supplies for a significant majority of our customers.

The Goals and Benefits of VMI

The objectives of the VMI Process are to reduce costs and increase supply chain efficiency by connecting the business goals of both suppliers and their customers. VMI vendors focus on inventory management and work to reduce obsolete inventory and stock outs, this allows the VMI customer to focus on meeting their other performance metrics. Other benefits for VMI Customer include:

  • Reduced Inventory Overstocks and Shortages
  • Increased Sales
  • Less Responsibility
  • Reduced Costs

VMI Features

Class C Components makes efficiency look easy. With the use of iPhone’s, orders are scanned and transmitted to your contact and our order fulfillment teams prior to our departure from your facility. A VMI program with Class C Components is primarily supported with a lead and backup inside sales representative as well as a procurement (scanning) rep.

VMI Program Review

After the implementation of your VMI program, we conduct a comprehensive review of the program within 30, 60 and 90 days. Our evaluation consists of minimum and maximum level per part revisions for each location, recommended fastener and part additions and potential location changes. The review process we implement lasts for the length of the program.
