What are Fastener Tamper Detection Markings?

Also known as torque markings, tamper detection markings provide Class C Components’ customers with visual proof that their torqued down fasteners have not moved or been tampered with. This saves valuable labor hours and money as they do no longer have to go back and individually, manually re-test each bolt during product inspections. Torque-Mark
Broken Torque Mark An industrial grade bead of wax is placed over the bolt head or nut which after allowing time to cure, provides a durable seal and visual indicator of proper torquing. The wax comes in a wide variety of colors and adheres to almost any surface.  After setting up, any movement of the nuts and bolts will be indicated by a broken seal. Time and money is saved because now torque checks can be done quickly through a visual inspection rather than having to manually retest each bolt with a torque wrench.

The title image of this article shows tamper detection torque marking in use at a current Class C Components customer. You can see the red bead remains unbroken from the fastener bolt head to the washer. If these bolts had moved or been tampered with that bead would not be intact.
